Ragdoll Cats ~ Chocolate Ragdolls ~ Lilac Ragdolls ~ DNA
Tested
Breeding from: Canadian, American, New Zealand &
Australian lines !!
The Ragdoll Cat is an American cat breed with a medium to long length, silky,
rabbit-like coat. It is best known for its docile and placid
temperament and affectionate nature. Ragdolls have a sturdy body
with a large frame, proportionate legs, and come in a pointed, mink
or solid type. Adult Ragdoll cats can be 15-20 lbs without being
considered obese, and a fatty pad under the abdomen is typical.
Our Ragdolls are ALL negative for HCM ragdoll & HCM maincoon,
PKD and more as they have been DNA tested (not just scanned) ... Our
Ragdolls have also been DNA tested for Chocolate and Lilac
genes so that we know 100% about our true colors.
Some famous Ragdolls ... presenters of
long-running CBBC TV program, Blue Peter, have two Ragdoll cats
amongst their team. The first Ragdoll was named "Socks", ostensibly
after a viewers' vote. Later the BBC revealed that in fact the
voters' first choice had been "Cookie" and the program acquired a
second Ragdoll kitten that they named "Cookie."
Another famous Ragdoll resides in the Algonquin Hotel in New York
City which keeps a Ragdoll cat in its lobby. This tradition of
keeping a cat dates to the 1930's; male Ragdolls are named "Hamlet"
and female Ragdolls, "Matilda." The current Matilda is an
11-year-old female Ragdoll who strolls the
lobby and sweetly greets guests from her position on the front desk.
She was recently named cat of the year at the Westchester Cat Show
in Westchester County, New York. Matilda has a signature cocktail in
the hotel bar; her likeness is on a children's book and Christmas
ornament.

Ragdoll Cats ~ Rose Allan's History ~ Sentimental cattery
Rose was a true pioneer. Her lilac Ragdoll Cats occurred from a
mating of 2 SBT blue Ragdolls. This started her journey of years of
re-enforcing the dilute occurrence and testing of many expensive
Ragdoll Cat lines, for generations, bringing out the recessive genes.
Remember, this was all done well before any DNA testing was
available. Instead she used a solid chocolate (in which the
brown coloring is obvious) to test her dilute colors and at the same
time, brought that particular line to SBT status in the TICA
registry.
Rose was not only a dedicated breeder but also has a background
in genetics, medical and animal studies. She is a good Christian
woman who did the Ragdoll Cat breed proud, even without titles and satin
rosettes of her own. As Rose was never able to travel to the U.S. to
the TICA cat shows and now that dream of hers must end ... however,
Sentimental Ragdoll kittens have been placed around the world, with many
achieving champion and grand-championship status for their new
owners!! We are proud of what our Ragdoll Cats have accomplished over
the years.

April 2004 - Rose first presents her eye problem to the family
doctor.
Nov. 2004 - First diagnosed, biopsy confirms cancer, at young
age of 42 years.
Jan. 2005 - Radiation does not resolve cancer & tumor is only
reduced by 15%. Doctors and Rose are disappointed at the outcome.
Rose's type of eye cancer is rare. You can't see Rose's pain but it is
a terrible situation. Her long, hard battle has left her with severe
trigeminal pain after the radiation treatment.
2005 - Rose decides to cut back her cattery, keeping only her
dilute program going as long as she possibly could with help from her
family. Special thanks to Glenn and Daniel.
Aug. 2007 - Rose undergoes surgery to cut the nerves around the eye
that were damaged by the radiation.
2008 - Rose now has much difficulty in reading the
computer screen even with all font sizes enlarged. She is still in
lots of pain and has only few good days in between. So there comes a
time, when true friends are called upon. After much heart & soul
searching Rose decided it was time for her to retire and leave her
legacy for someone else to continue.
April 2008 - We are therefore pleased to announce that the
remaining Sentimental dilute program are now in the care of Irene
Haidner at
RaggleRock
Ragdoll cattery (located near Trenton, Ontario). Irene has been
such a friend to Rose and to honor Rose in her lifetime's work,
Irene will continue the Ragdoll Cat dilute breeding program under the cattery
name of Sentimental ... we wish her all the best in her
future endeavors.
One last comment from Rose: Chocolate and lilac Ragdoll Cats are
still very Rare and Hard to Come by even today ... and although many
other breeders claim to have them, they simply have light colored
seals or blues. Sentimental has tested our colors and they are
dilutes indeed !! Our cats have gorgeous coats, staying near
pure white all their lives.
